In January 1868, he came west with his parents and settled in Fremont. On March 18, 1873, he was united in marriage to Miss Matilda Pagenkopf, and they settled on a homestead south of Scribner. Read More	The Scribner Rustler, September 30, 1920, p. 1, col. 1 GEORGE FREDRICK GODEL George Fredrick Godel was born in Philadelphia, Pa., on the fifth day of February 1854, and died at his home in Scribner September 20, 1920, after a short illness, at the age of 66 years 7 months and 15 days. In January 1868, he came west with his parents and settled in Fremont. On March 18, 1873, he was united in marriage to Miss Matilda Pagenkopf, and they settled on a homestead south of Scribner. To this union six children, five of which are living - Emma Caroline having passed away at the age of three years. Mr. Godel and family moved from the farm to Scribner thirty-six years ago, where he resided until his death week ago Monday. He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, Mrs. Matilda Godel, five children, Geo. Herman Godel, of O’Neil; Mrs. Chas. Johnson; Chas. Edward Godel; Ernest Godel, all of Scribner; and Mrs. Frank B. Anderson of Fremont; also two brothers, one sister and many friends. Funeral services were held last Wednesday from the Congregational Church, in charge of Rev. Birch. Interment Pebble Creek Cemetery. ____ Card of Thanks We wish to thank our many friends who so kindly assisted us during the sickness and burial of our beloved husband and father; also for the beautiful floral offerings.
