Description	:	George Frederick Gerwick Dec 21,1893-May 22,1962 GEORGE GERWICK DIES SUDDENLY George Fred Gerwick, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gerwick, Sr. was born December 1, 1893, in Srago Township, Richardson County, Nebraska. In 1904, he moved to Odell, Nebraska with his parents and in 1913 moved to Scribner, Nebraska, where he made his home. He lived on farms around both Scribner and Snyder. On September 18, 1917, he was called to the service of the United States Army and was with the 89th Division, 355th Infantry, Company A. Read More	George Frederick Gerwick Dec 21,1893-May 22,1962 GEORGE GERWICK DIES SUDDENLY George Fred Gerwick, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gerwick, Sr. was born December 1, 1893, in Srago Township, Richardson County, Nebraska. In 1904, he moved to Odell, Nebraska with his parents and in 1913 moved to Scribner, Nebraska, where he made his home. He lived on farms around both Scribner and Snyder. On September 18, 1917, he was called to the service of the United States Army and was with the 89th Division, 355th Infantry, Company A. He was trained at the following camps: Camp Funston, Kansas and Camp Miller, Long Island, New York. On April 25, 1918, he wascalled overseas with the 35th Division, 137th Infanty, Company A. He served in five (5) battles during the war and returned home on April 23, 1919, receiving his honorable Discharge, May 6, 1919, at Camp Dodge, Iowa. George farmed and did carpenter work as his livelihood. He was united in marriage with Elfreda Bielke on September 24, 1919 at Snyder, Nebraska. He was baptized March 28, 1894, William Mill Church at Barada, Nebraska and confirmed April 1, 1917 as a member of Immanuel Lutheral Church, Snyder, Nebraska. On May 22, 1962, he passed away at his home farm, at the age of 68 years, 5 months and 1 day. He leaves to mourn his passing: Mrs. Elfrieda Gerwick, son Willis and daughter Audrey Bernice of Scribner; three (3) brothers, Fred of California, Charles of Kearney, Nebraska and Henry of Scribner; five (5) sisters, Mrs. Fred (Rose) Kaufman of San Gabriel, California, Mrs. Lena Beckman of Fillmore, California, Mrs. Earl (Hattie) French of Minatare, Nebraska, Mrs. Anita Carmichael of Nemaha, Nebraska, Mrs. A.D. (Katie) Hitt of Elba, Nebraska and three (3) grandchildren. His parents and one (1) brother preceded him in death. Services will be held May 26, 1962 in United Lutheran Church, Scribner, Nebraska, at 2:00 p.m.. Organist is Mrs. J.H. Lamberty and mens' quartet will sing. Service to be conducted by Pastor R.R. Pfeiffer. Burial in Pebble Cemetery. Arrangements are by Spear Funeral Home. The Scribner Rustler, Tuesday, May 24, 1962...
