Read More	Per Tipton Daily Thursday evening January 19, 1933 Death Claimed Fine Young Man George Gerald McColley, 27, Died at Methodist Hospital Thursday Leaves Wife and Son Word was received in Tipton early Thursday that George Gerald McColley had had passed away at the Methodist hospital in Indianapolis. He failed to rally from an operation performed several days ago in the hope of correcting a condition which was sapping his life. For some time before the operation he had been unable to take any nourishment, and and the operation was performed with chances against his recovery. When the operation was performed a worse condition was found than was expected and it was seen there was no hope. The end came at 1 o'clock Thursday morning. The family consented to the holding of an autopsy and when this was finished the body was brought to the Ogle & Little mortuary to prepare it for burial. No funeral arrangements have been made. The death of this young husband and father, who loved his home and family and was devoted to both, is regretted by all. Wednesday it was thought a blood transfusion would be necessary and two of his friends went to the hospital to furnish the blood, but it was decided not to attempt the operation. The death of this spendid young husband and father cast a gloom over the community in general and especially in the Tribune office where he had been employed as a linotype operator for the past six years. During all of that time his cheery disposition, even when others knew he was suffering from an affliction which made life almost unbearable, endeared him to all. He was one of the cleanest and most upright young men of this city and a workman who held a high place in the esteem of all. He was a member of the West Street Christian church and his every day life could not be questioned. The deceased was born on a farm Southwest of Tipton 27 years ago, his parents being George and Ida (Burkhardt) McColley and he was one of three children. A brother, Iris, died September 12, 1924, and a sister is the wife of Raymond Harker, of Chalmers. Six years ago, the deceased was united in marriage to Miss Olyne Hershman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Hershman, of Tipton, and one son, George Edward, age 4, and the widow survive. He is also survived by the mother, Mrs. Ida Kleyla, wife of John Kleyla, residing east of Atlanta, his father having been deceased a number of years and the mother remarrying.
