Read More	Published in the Rochester Sentinel, Tuesday, January 4, 1910 George Goss, familiarly known by Rochester and Fulton county people as "Uncle Georgie," died this morning about two o'clock after an illness due to old age, which extended over the past three years, the last year being especially telling on the aged gentleman's health. In the death of George Goss, Fulton county has lost one of her foremost pioneers, who was always held in highest esteem for his uprightness of character and general goodness. He was born November 22, 1822, in Fairfield county, Ohio, and lived there until eighteen years of age, when he moved to Fulton county. In taking up his residence here he settled in what is now known as the Salem neighborhood, about nine miles southwest of Rochester. In June, 1844, he was united in marriage with Elizabeth Allen. To this union eight children were born, all of whom are living. They are: Silas, California; Hiram, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Sarah Rank, Mrs. Angelina Burton, Mrs. Rebecca McMahan, Mrs. Dolly Alspach and Mrs. Josephine Marsh, of Rochester, and Mrs. Mary Marsh of New York city. He also leaves twenty grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock, at the residence, Rev. W. F. Switzer, Hammond, and Rev. W. H. Bast of this city having charge of the services. Burial will be made in I.O.O.F. cemetery.
