Ferry, died Saturday at 10:35 a.m. at St. Joseph Hospital. He worked most of his life as a paper hanger and painter, later working for the Rock Island Railroad. He was born April 21, 1892, in Lucas County, the son of Adam M. and Delilah A. Whitlatch Lane. He had been an Ottumwan most of his life. He served with the Army in World War I and was a member of the American Legion. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Ann Eldred of Remer, Minn. Mrs. Geneva Brown of Davenport, and Mrs. Geverinia Barnes of Rock Island, ill.; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Lawrence Lane of Ottumwa. He was preceded in death by one son, Albert, and two brothers, Elmer and Earl. The service will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Reece Funeral Home with the Rev. Thomas Cusack of St. Patrick Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery with military services conducted by the American Legion. Members of the American Legion will also serve as pallbearers. There will be a wake service at the funeral home tonight at 8 o’clock.
