I went down to Cornelia's last Thursday to see them about those papers. Salmon [Hall] said that he would sign any papers that Cornelia wished him to, also said he could give some advice. He thought whoever had Power of attorney should give Bonds. He also thought that the Bond of the administrators was no Bond that would oblige the person who had the Power of attorney in other states, to enter an account to the probate court in Berkshire. He thought we ought to require bonds of him. I brought the papers home, as Roxanna had not signed them. I agreed to meet them at town the next day. I did so and as there was but two hours before markets close, we did not have time to send that day. Also the Clerk or Probate was gone. Salmon and Cornelia thought best to have a Bond written and sent to you with the other papers. I wished you to get Ensigns (?) Bond before you give him the Power written. I do not know but it is all well enough, and perhaps better than not get Salmon's name. I told them that I would write to you about the Power of attorney to send to Orville. They thought he ought to give Bonds to the heirs. You consult Mother and Dwight of these things and do as you think best. Salmon thought that I might as well pay for the acknowledgement of those papers and the writing of the Bond. As he said, it would probably come out of the Estate. I paid it (only two dollars). I do not know as I ought to have paid it but it is all weight. I think that those Powers of attorneys are Bonds in themselves. Write up the receipt of this and let me know all the news. And whether you go west. I enclose some sea biscuits in this, which Cornelia gave me to give to you. It is nearly dark and I will close to you and write Franklin. From Geo. H.
