George Holthaus died at his home on Tuesday morning after weeks of Illness. Tenderly cared for by his faithful wife, Mary. For many weeks Mr. Holthaus had known that he would never be well and had made arrangements for the time when he would be called. George Holthaus, son of Henry and Anna Holthaus, was born near Colesburg May 4th, 1870 and at the time of his death was 67 years of age. In the family were five children, four boys and one girl. The sister, Mrs. Lizzie Kruempel died some years ago. The three brothers, Fred, Ben and Joe live near Colesburg. As a boy he lived on the farm and attended the schools nearby. As he grew to the age of understanding he followed in the footsteps of his parents and united with the Methodist church. Always a faithful member to the end. The church was all he needed and he never joined any lodge of society other than this. The only office he held was in the church and here he here he was one of the most faithful workers, doing all that was requested of him. Other societies were alright for those who cared for them. He was united in marriage to Mary Luense in Oct. 1898, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. August Luense on a farm near Greeley. Article from unknown newspaper.
