He lived near that city until well on into manhood, marrying Miss Catherine Connolly of that place and making his home on a farm near there. About 1880, he brought his family, consisting of a wife and three children to Boone where he went into the railroad business, passing rapidly from brakeman to conductor for the C & NW company. For ten years, he was a conductor, but for the past twenty years he had retired from the road. Three of his children were born here and of them, but three remain. His wife died twelve years ago and two years later he married Mrs. William Kinney of this city. The three living children are Miss Sarah, Charles, and G.A., all of Boone. G. A. Knight is, like his father, a conductor for the C & NW Company, running from Boone to Clinton. The funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 9:00 from the church of the Sacred Heart and the body was laid in the Catholic cemetery west of the city.
