He grew to young manhood and joined the Union forces in the Civil War on Aug 13, 1862, serving his country and his flag until the end of the war and received his honorable discharge on June 7, 1865. He was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic and his funeral was in charge of the Sons of Veterans and the Women's Relief Corps.

Mr Scott has followed various occupations and has always been a man of honor and honesty who was loved and respected by relatives, neighbors and friends. He lived beyond those years usually allotted to man.
Besides his three children he also leaves nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. To all of these we extend sympathy in their sorrow.

Contributor: #50688637 - George's and Cornelia's Father and Mother should be Charles & Maria (Champlin) Scott of Illinois (I don't see them in Find-A-Grave). See the 1850 and 1860 US Census for Pampas, DeKalb, Illinois for Charles Scott. |
