George was known to all who loved him as Ohno, the fourth son of George and Rachel Magpie. After three boys, his parents were expecting a girl. George was known to all who loved him as Ohno, the fourth son of George and Rachel Magpie. After three boys, his parents were expecting a girl. When George arrived everyone exclaimed Oh no! and he was forever nicknamed. George's grandparents were David and Grace Redneck Strangeowl and Don Magpie and Lois Crookedlegs. Ohno was born April 21st, 1978 in Crow Agency, Montana. He grew up on the family cattle ranch working cows and haying with his siblings. He was a talented roper, and his favorite cow dog was Scoot. He attended high school first at St. Labre, where he played football as a left tackle and he later transferred to Colstrip High school where he graduated in 1997. After high school he moved to Denver and worked with his brother Darren Chapa Magpie for his company, Magpie Earthworks. Ohno eventually returned to Montana and attended Salish Kootenai College in Ronan, MT where he earned a certification as a CNA. He lived for a couple of years in Sun River, MT on the Brad Hamlet ranch where he helped raise Leachman bulls. Ohno was raised by traditional Cheyenne parents and he powwow danced when he was young, and he was a Doorman in the Bowstring Society. Later in life Ohno had several different jobs, he worked for the Indian Health Service as a transportation driver, for the Northern Cheyenne Natural Resources program as a Buffalo Tech, and most recently he worked at Food Distribution and he worked with his brother Quanah at Lynch Coulee Lube. Ohno was the workhorse of our family, he was a mechanic who could often be found working in the shop at the ranch on his many cars. He helped his dad, George Sr. rebuild many vehicles over the years. He was the protector of all of us, our big brother who always had everyone's back. He was a special uncle who was loved by all of his nieces and nephews. Ohno was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Rachel Magpie and his older brother Darren Chapa Magpie, his special cousins Barbara Braidedhair and Halona Shoulderblade. Ohno is survived by his daughters, Chelcie Rose Backer (Daniel Harding) and Zoey Magpie, his father, George Magpie Sr. Brothers, James (Melissa) Magpie, Bob (Jennifer) Magpie, Santee (Aleda) Magpie, Kahyo (Alice) Magpie, Quanah Magpie and Charlie Magpie, his sisters Malena (Mike Pine) Magpie, Mia (Dan) Magpie-Sweeney, and Lisa (Jon) Magpie, his special cousins Anthony Runningwolf and Gabriel Strangeowl, his nephews, James, Austin, Shane, Teton, Dakota, Nahko, Robert Jr, Cody, Damien, Tennyson, Decimus, Brody, Sovone and Lakota, his nieces, Jessica, Feather, Madison, Maren, Laine, Shelly, Essence, Sietta, and Grace, and his aunts Florence (Mike) Runningwolf, Charlotte (Tom) Rockroads, Eva (Jim) Lee and Ruthie Shoulderblade. Ohno was related to the Strangeowl, Beartusk, Littlebird, Rounstone, Rock Above, Blessing Game, Eastman, Wolftooth, Redneck, Medicinebulls, Bellymules, Pines, Nightwalkers, Bents, Standingelks, Elkshoulder's and Chapman families. We have a very large family, we apologize if we forgot anybody. Traditional wake services will be at the Magpie Ranch on Sunday, October 10th at 5:00 pm and funeral services will be October 11th, at the Magpie ranch at 1:00. Burial will follow on the ranch. We will honor Ohno's society commitments by wearing Bowstring Society colors, red and yellow.
