Thorley, well known banker and rancher, of Ainsworth, at the Jessen Funeral Home, Friday, September 5th. Services at the home were in charge of Rev. Peter Vos of the Congregational Church. At the grave an impressive ceremoney was conducted by members of the Silver Cord Lodge No. 224, A. F. & A. M., Ainsworth. He was a member of the Masonic order, and had he lived another week, he would have completed fifty-two years of Masonic Service. He was raised to the degree of Master Mason on September 7, 1889, in Pymona IA, and affiliated with Silver Cord Lodge No 224 in Ainworth, on February 9, 1915. Mr. Thorley was presented the Jordan 50 Year Pin on September 12, 1939, by Silver Cord Lodge, and was at the time of his death, one of its oldest members. George Howard Thorley was born November 14, 1952, at West Salem OH, and passed away on September 2, 1941, at Ainsworth, Nebraska. He was the oldest of three children of Samuel and Elizabeth Thorley. When he was four years old the family moved to Louisa County, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Elmina Marshall on December 20, 1877. She preceded him in death in 1933. To this union five children were born, two sons, who died in infancy, and a daughter, Mrs. Ethel Bailey, who passed away February 3, 1941. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. A. G. Rasek of Ainsworth, and one son, H. G. Thorley, of Springview, two grandons and two granddaughter. A short time after his marriage he moved to Atlantic IA later to Des Moines IA, and from there to Ainsworth in 1914. Mr. Thorley engaged in ranching in keya Paha County in 1895 and entered the banking business in Springview in 1910 and in Ainsworth in 1913.
