Description	:	The Davenport Democrat and Leader (Davenport, Iowa), May 9, 1928: Morning Sun, Ia., May 9 -- George Howe, 84 years of age, one of Morning Sun's highly respected citizens, died yesterday morning after a lingering illness. Mr. Howe was born July 4, 1844, in Ireland. He married Miss Mercy Simmons, Jan 8, 1869, in London, England. The family came to this country in 1880, settling near Bradford, Ill. Mr. Howe was born July 4, 1844, in Ireland. He married Miss Mercy Simmons, Jan 8, 1869, in London, England. The family came to this country in 1880, settling near Bradford, Ill. In 1887 they came to Iowa, locating on a farm near Columbus Junction, and in 1899 moved to a farm north of Morning Sun. Later they moved into town. While in England, Mr. Howe was a member of the Royal North British Dragoons, the "Scotch Greys". For 25 years he was the custodian of the Presbyterian church until ill health compelled him to give the work up two years ago. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Anna, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. The funeral services will be held at the Presbyterian church Thursday afternoon, and the burial will be in Elmwood cemetery. Father: William Howes Mother: Mary Good
