This was in the Carroll Chronicle, Carrollton, Ohio, Friday, February 6, 1920 Louella S. Atwell has commenced action for divorce against G. Hudson Atwell. In her petition she alleges that they were married April 9, 1914, at Canton and have no children. She alleges that he failed to support her for more than three years. She also says that they have made a settlement of their property, and asks for the restoration of her maiden name. The case comes from Perry Township. His obituary in the Free Press Standard, Carrollton, Ohio, Thurs. July 23, 1925. Hudson Atwell of Perrysville died Tuesday morning at 8:00 o'clock in his home after an illness of several years. The funeral services will be held this (Thursday) afternoon at 1 o'clock p.m. in the Methodist church at Perrysville, his pastor, Rev. Rhodes, assisted by Rev. Brooks, officiating. Interment will be made in the Methodist Cemetery. Mr. Atwell was born in Virginia, March 19, 1870, and was married to Clara James, April 21, 1891, who died about 15 years ago. Four children, Arthur of Perrysville; Mrs. Frances Zolran of Germano; Mrs. Florence Stewart of Jewett and Mrs. Helen Coleman of Perrysville; a brother, Dr. Zed Atwell of Canton, and a sister; Mrs. Elizabeth France of Columbus, survive. For many years Mr. Atwell was in the undertaking business and has spent the major portion of his life in Perrysville. Hudson was raised by Jason and Letitia (Riley) Kirby. Mrs. Jason Kirby died at her home in Perrysville Thursday last, from grip and the infirmities of age. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. E. O. Rhodes on Saturday, and burial was made in the M. E. cemetery. Mrs. Kirby's maiden name was Latricia Riley, being a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Riley. She was married to Jason Kirby 66 years ago. They lived all their married life in Perrysville. They had no children, but they raised Hudson Atwell, and after his wife's death they kept his three children, Frances, Helen and Arthur. She was a lifelong member of the M. E. Church.
