Funeral services were held Tuesday of this week from the Wilbur Lutheran Church with Pastor A. F. Gerstmann officiating. Frank Hanson sang ‘Our Father Has A Light In His Window' and ‘Rock of Ages', accompanied by Mrs. Roy Sassman at the organ. Pall bearers were Cliff Wyborney, James Novotney, Burton Finch, Robert Luiten, Dale Duvall and Lyle Buchanan. Interment was in the Wilbur Cemetery and the Robertson Funeral Home of Wilbur was in charge of arrangements. Born Nov 30, 1906, Mr. Hume received his education at the Miles and Davenport schools. He was united in marriage to Mildred Williams in 1935 while he was serving in the Second Corps of the US Army. He was discharged in 1936 and the family moved to Wilbur in 1945 from Creston and he has resided here since. Mrs. Hume died in 1957 and in 1959 he was united in marriage to Ellen Foley Angstrom. Mr. Hume worked for many years with the State Dept of Highways and at the time of his retirement was foreman of the Wilbur shop. He was a member of the Trinity and Wilbur Lutheran Churches and was active in the Wilbur Senior Citizens Center, serving his second term as president of the organization at the time of his death. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mildred, a sister and by three brothers. Surviving are his wife Ellen at the home, two daughters, Mrs. Darlene Portch of Wilbur and Mrs. Marla Schreiber, Richland; a step-daughter, Mrs. Irene Bonner, Spokane; a brother, John Hume, Deming; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Owen of Bellingham and Mrs. Josie Little, Creston; 9 grandchildren; two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Hume, at the home; 2 daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Maria) Schreiber, Richland, WA; Mrs. Dan (Darlene) Portch, Wilbur, WA; 1 step-daughter, Mrs. Irene Bonner, Spokane, WA; one brother, John Hume, Deming, WA; 2 sisters, Mrs. Alice Owen, Bellingham, WA; Mrs. Josie Little, Creston, WA; 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 27, at 2 p.m. form the Wilbur Lutheran Church, Pastor A. F. Gerstmann officiating. Interment will be at the Wilbur, WA, Cemetery.
