He married Mary Effie Gibbs, called Effie, daughter of Andrew Jackson ("Jack") Gibbs and Mary Frances Maxwell, on June 2, 1902, in Chadron, Dawes County, Nebraska; they were married until his death. The couple had one child, namely: C. Wilma (Farber) Mintun (1905-2000). Mr. Farber's birth and death dates, his middle name, and his mother's maiden name, Wiltrout, were taken from the Harrison County Death Certificate Index. FARBER George Irwin [sic-Irvin] Farber was born at Jefferson, Greene County, Iowa, November 11, 1876, and passed away at his home north of Modale February 24, at the age of 60 years and three months. He came to Monona County with his parents at the age of five years. His parents were William and Amanda Farber, who homesteaded near Blencoe. On June 2, 1902, he married Miss Effie Gibbs at Chadron, Nebr. To this union a daughter Wilma was born, now Mrs. Harry Mintun, who with the widow survives. He also leaves five sisters, Mrs. Cora Shank [Cora Austin] of Tulsa, Okla., Mrs. John Strain [Rosella May Farber] of Modale, Mrs. James Mitchell [Emma F. Ewing] of Wakefield, Nebr., Mrs. Geo. Brown [Effie Mae Farber], of Vail, Mrs. Andrew Smith [Alice Elizabeth Farber], of Watertown, S. D., two brothers, Henry of Anthon, and William of Omaha, and one grandson, Ronald Irwin Mintun. He had resided near Modale the past 35 years. He suffered a stroke while driving his car and was taken to his home and soon expired. He had a host of friends. His kindly, helpful nature made him favorably known and greeted as "Dick" by all. The funeral service was held Saturday, February 27, at the M. E. church in Modale, Rev. Henderson of Magnolia, officiating. The pallbearers were William Nelson, Chas. Nelson, Delbert Hammer, J. L. Motz, Kelly Vittitoe, Bert Lewis. The song selections were by a male quartette, Geo. Morrow, Carl Blair, E. E. McFerrin, Edw. Eliff. Songs were 'He Always is There,' 'That Beautiful Land,' and 'Sometime We'll Understand.' Burial in Magnolia cemetery." Dick's full siblings were Rosella May (Farber) Strain and James "Henry" Farber. Dick's half-siblings through his mother were Cora E. (Austin) Shank and Emma F. (Ewing) Mitchell.
