Mitcham Dies in Little Rock Obit.—George Izell Mitcham, 58, of Gurdon and formerly of Pine Bluff, died early yesterday at St. Vincent’s Infirmary in Little Rock as the result of a brief illness. Mr. Mitcham, a saw filer with the Gurdon Lumber Company, entered the hospital Monday night to undergo treatment. He was a son of Mrs. Lou Ella Mitcham of Pine Bluff and the late William Douglas Mitcham, born April 6, 1897, in Tuscaloosa, Ala. He came to Pine Bluff with his parents when he was a young boy. Mr. Mitcham was educated in Pine Bluff schools and as a young man, worked as a machine operator with the Seamon-Dunning Body Plant. He was later employed as a saw filer with Peers and McGlone Lumber Company, the Arkansas Oak Flooring Company, the Farm Bureau Lumber Company and the Fox Lumber Company prior to moving to Gurdon seven years ago. Mr. Mitcham was a Baptist. Survivors include his widow, the former Leota Brown of Pine Bluff; one daughter, Mrs. Cloma Taylor of East St. Louis, Ill.; two sons, Ed Mitcham of Pine Bluff and James Mitcham of Brownwood, Tex.; his mother, Mrs. Mitcham of Pine Bluff; three brothers, W. P. Mitcham of Star City, H. F. Mitcham of Little Rock and N. F. Mitcham of Orange, Tex.; four sisters, Mrs. Melinda Johnson of Pine Bluff, Mrs. Flora Threat of Sheridan, Mrs. Flossie Matthews of Memphis and Mrs. Mamie Harper of Augusta, GA.; and four grandchildren including Pamela Mitcham of Pine Bluff. Funeral services were held today in the Robinson and Son Mortuary chapel with the Rev. Harold Hightower, pastor of the Beech Street Baptist Church of Gurdon, officiating. Burial was in the Fitzhugh Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Carroll Baxter, C. E. Baxter, Johnny Wafford, Garland Torrence, Louis Haskins and Carr Culpepper.
