Portzline was born in the state of Pennsylvania on March 19, 1877 and died at his home in Millerboro Community, Nebraska on October 4, 1923 at the age of 46 years, 6 months and 15 days. While in poor health for the past few years, yet his death came so suddenly and unexpected that it could be hardly realized. Portzline was born in the state of Pennsylvania on March 19, 1877 and died at his home in Millerboro Community, Nebraska on October 4, 1923 at the age of 46 years, 6 months and 15 days. While in poor health for the past few years, yet his death came so suddenly and unexpected that it could be hardly realized. He became ill Thursday shortly after noon and passed away that evening at 5:30. Mr. Portzline left his home in the east at about the age of 21 years and came to South Dakota, where he remained only short time and then came to Millerboro Community, where he has lived the greater part of his life since. He was married on September 12, 1900 to Miss Gertrude Buoy and to their home has come three children. Leona Belle, who lived a few short months to gladden the hearts of the parents and then, slipped home to God. Mildred, who has been attending school at Wesleyan University and Evelyn, who has been attending the Creighton High School, are left to grieve the loss of their beloved father and to console their mother in this dark moment of her grief. He is also survived by his aged mother, a brother and a sister, all of whom live in Pennsylvania and could not be reached in time to attend the funeral. Mr. Portzline has practically lived his life in this community. His epitaph is written more elegantly in the hearts of men and neighbors then it can ever be written. All who knew him as a friend, a member of the family or in business circles, respected him for his fine, manly character and his good business judgment. He confessed his faith in Christ, joined church very early in life and later, when the Millerboro church was organized became associated with it. He has shown much interest in the welfare of the church and always found actively engaged in promoting its activities. The funeral was held in the M.E. church, Sunday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. F. Farner and interment made in Greenwood Cemetery. The entire community united in extending sympathy to the bereaved loved ones and not only realizing their loss, but the loss to the community at large.
