1937George Jerome Mischel, 89, Strasburg, and formerly of Linton, died Feb. 2, 2000 in the Strasburg care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Linton, with the Rev. Bruce Krebs officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday, and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. George Jerome Mischel was born on April 30, 2000 at Dickinson, the son of George and Mathilda (Beespflug) Mischel. On June 21, 1937 he married Eleanor Hartman in Fayette. After graduating from The Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, Ohio, he worked for Montana Dakota Utilities Co. as a district manager in both Elgin and Linton, and retired after 38 years of service. George also worked as the projectionist at the Linton theater and drive-in theater for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Anthony's Catholic Church where he had served as a cantor and choir member. George was a past member of the Linton School Board and the Linton Lions Club. George cherished the warmth and fellowship of family and friends. He enjoyed entertaining and was an avid wine enthusiast. His hobbies included gardening, sports, music, reading, traveling and wine-making. He was also a member of a local bridge club. George lived his faith as a loving husband and father. Grateful to have shared his life are his wife, Eleanor Mischel, Strasburg; five sons and four daughters-in-law, Duane and Carol Mischel, Los Osos, Calif., Joseph and Jen Mischel, Eden Prairie, Minn., Gregory and Luci Mischel, Two Harbors, Minn., and Dan Mischel, Highland Ranch, Colo.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Richard Lorenz, Dell Rapids, S.D., Terri and Rod Long, Upper Sandusky, Ohio; 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Veronica Ehrmantraut, Dickinson. George was preceded in death by two brothers; two sisters; two half-brothers, and one half-sister. |
