Description	:	George L. Lake, son of Alonzo and Sarah Jane Lake, was born at Williamsport, Pa, Oct 26, 1868, and died at the Municipal hospital in Clarinda, Dec 29, 1951, at the age of 83 years, 2 months and three days. He was married to Callie Loman of near New Market, Ia, March 18, 1890. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary two years ago. There were born to this union eight children, seven of whom, with their mother, survive his passing. The children surviving are Thomas Lake of Leavenworth, Kan, Mamie Hackler, Chilhowee, Mo, Eustace Lake of Manning, Ia, Ruth McKay of New Market, Clark Lake of Sac City, Ia, Bertha Raymer, Osark, Mo, and Myrtle Handford of Kansas City, Mo. One child, a daughter preceded her father in death in infancy. Also surviving are one brother Will Lake of Villisca, Ia, one sister, Mrs E.H. Loman of Sheridan, Wyo, 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mr Lake's life was devoted to farming until seven years ago, when he was forced to retire on account of failing health. He was a member of the Mennonite church. He was industrious, a man of good character and clean habits. He will be greatly missed by both family and friends. Funeral services were conducted from the New Market Baptist church at 2 pm Monday, Dec 31, 1951, with the Rev I.E. Stickelman in charge. Music was by Mrs Opal McDonald and Mrs Mary Anderson who sang. Pianist was Mrs Opal Brown. Casket bearers were Johnnie Combs, Eddie Strong, Ralph Bayles, Orville Woods, Floyd Maley, and Mark Anderson. Burial was in the Old Memory cemetery near New Market.
