Description	:	George W. Lehmer was born in Prairie du Chein, Wisconsin, January 3rd, 1866 and passed away at his home in this city, April 10th, 1928, aged 62 years, 3 months and 7 days. Mr. Lehmer's mother died when he was but a year old and he was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Merril of Prairie du Chein. He lived with his foster parents until he was sixteen years of age, when he went to Decorah, Iowa, to live with his father. Read More	George W. Lehmer was born in Prairie du Chein, Wisconsin, January 3rd, 1866 and passed away at his home in this city, April 10th, 1928, aged 62 years, 3 months and 7 days. Mr. Lehmer's mother died when he was but a year old and he was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Merril of Prairie du Chein. He lived with his foster parents until he was sixteen years of age, when he went to Decorah, Iowa, to live with his father. After a short residence there, he went to Cresco, where he remained until 1891, coming to West Union where he resided until his death. On March 14, 1893, he was united in marriage with Mary M. Reisner and to them was born one child, Phyllis, now Mrs. P. B. Foss. Mr. and Mrs. Foss have made their home with her parents since their marriage. Mr. and Mrs. Lehmer lived on a farm for two years and then moved to West Union, George being employed by the late Dr. E. A. Ainsworth. In 1900 he began hauling mail and express, but a few years ago gave up the mail delivery, continuing with the express until three weeks ago yesterday, when he was forced by ill health to retire. Every body in West Union knew George Lehmer. His honesty and faithful perfor mance of any duty falling to him was an outstanding part of his character. His cheery acknowledgement of any greeting, with a wave of his hand and a broad smile on his face, will be pleas antly recalled by host of friends. He delighted in the friendship of little children and rarely failed to notice them and talk with them. He seemed such a fixture in his niche of the town life that is is difficult to realize that he has been called away Mr. Lehmer is survived by his wife and daughter.
