It was in Turkey that he met his wife, Ursula Clarke, who had been working as a missionary there since 1868. They were married in Manisa, Turkey on 1/1/1875. George Levi married Minnie Eliza Dawson (1872-1940), daughter of George W. Dawson and Susan Randal Mullen, on June 29,1910. Minnie was a teacher. They had been married for 30 years when she died on September 17, 1940 at age 68. On October 20, 1945 George married Elisabeth Frohlich Haskell (1881-1967), daughter of Samuel S. Frohlich and Elisabeth Hutter, and widow of Edward B. Haskell. "REV. GEORGE L. MARSH A former missionary to Greece, the Rev. George L. Marsh of 551 Harrison Ave., Claremont, died this morning after an illness of three months. Mr. Marsh was born Nov. 9, 1875, in Eski Zara, Turkey, which is now Bulgaria. His parents were missionaries there. He came to California in 1906 and became a minister in the Congregational Church. He served as a missionary in Greece four years, teaching in the School of Religion at Athens. He returned to California in 1929 and held several pastorates, the longest at Ojai. He retired from his active ministry and came to Claremont in 1945. There he married Mrs. Elizabeth Haskell, with whom he lived in Pilgrim Place for 12 years. Besides his widow he leaves a sister, Miss Anna L. Marsh of Claremont; six stepsons, James M. and Oliver H. Haskell, Los Angeles, Douglas P., Edward F. and Gordon R. Haskell of New York City, Henry S. Haskell of Poughkeepsie, N. Y.; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Margaret B. Havens, Santa Cruz, Mrs. Martha M. Palmers, Los Angeles, and Mrs. Eldora H. Spiegelberg of Appleton, Wis. Funeral services are to be conducted in Claremont Memorial Chapel at 3 p.m. Saturday. Dr. Harold G. Jones, pastor of Claremont Community Church, and the Rev. Harold Smith of Claremont, will officiate. Services will conclude in the chapel.
