Description	:	George was the son of Josiah Miles and Abigail Stalbird. About 1860 in Illinois he married Persis (Leavitt) Young, daughter of Peter Leavitt and Sarah Spaulding, and widow of Daniel Young. Her husband Daniel had died Oct 15, 1851. Their children were Herbert and Warren. Warren was born about 1866 and Herbert was born July 13, 1861 and died Mar 13, 1863. Read More	George was the son of Josiah Miles and Abigail Stalbird. About 1860 in Illinois he married Persis (Leavitt) Young, daughter of Peter Leavitt and Sarah Spaulding, and widow of Daniel Young. Her husband Daniel had died Oct 15, 1851. Their children were Herbert and Warren. Warren was born about 1866 and Herbert was born July 13, 1861 and died Mar 13, 1863. They also had her children from her 1st marriage: Oscar, Sarah, Walter, and Prescott Young. In 1860-1870 they lived in Le Roy, IL; in 1880 they were in Bonus, IL; and by 1890 George, Persis, and son Warren were living in Chicago, IL. His wife, Persis, died on Dec 19, 1892 in Chicago, IL and is buried there (possibly in Union Ridge Cemetery). George was in the 1900 census in Chicago, but apparently returned to NH shortly after that. On July 21, 1904 in West Milan, NH he married Huldah E. (Bickford) Miles, daughter of John M. Bickford and Catherine Forbush, and widow of John Van Buren Miles, his brother. Age: 74yrs Cause of Death: Hypertrophy of Prostate - Pulmonary Embolism Note: When his wife Huldah died in 1940 she was buried here in Sand HIll with his brother, her 1st husband. George's death certificate said he was buried in Stark, but a marker has now been found for him under the grass in Sand Hill, so Huldah had him buried here, not in Stark. (Thank you, Louise Sanschagrin, for finding that buried stone!) Persis had moved from NH to Illinois with her husband Dan Young and a couple children before the 1850 census. Her parents, Peter & Sarah, joined her there about 1851, possibly when her husband died in Oct 1851. The Spaulding Memorial book incorrectly states that Persis's parents married and moved to California. They moved to Le Roy, IL and lived here until their deaths.
