Death came after an extended illness and was therefore expected, but the realization of the inevitable did not lessen the great grief of the family. The funeral and burial occurred Tuesday afternoon. Death came after an extended illness and was therefore expected, but the realization of the inevitable did not lessen the great grief of the family. The funeral and burial occurred Tuesday afternoon. Elder N. Rollo Davis of Burlington Junction conducted the services in the Christian church and the remains were laid away in the Masonic cemetery. Deceased was never robust. During the past three years he was ill most of the time - sometimes dangerously. He made a profession of religion but never united with any church. "Don't cry, for I am ready to die," he said to the family the evening before death came. The funeral was largely attended. Deceased was born in Harrison county, this state, May 13, 1876 and was therefore 24 years and 6 days old when he died. In 1881 he came to Nodaway county with his mother, since which time he continued to reside here. He leaves a mother, six sisters, Mrs. S. M. Colburn, of Stafford, Kansas, Mrs. Grant Ruddell of St. Joseph, Mrs. Ella Bever of Burlington Junction, and Misses Lottie, Myra, and Zola, and two brothers, - Frank and Carl, all of whom were present at the funeral and burial except Mrs. Colburn and Mrs. Ruddell.
