Description	:	George Ellison Laid To Rest Saturday Funeral services were held Saturday for Geo. Ellison, who passed away at the home of Mrs. Florence Schroeder on Wednesday. The services were held at the Methodist church with a quartette composed of Frank Witter, Evelyn Bish, and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Corderman furnishing the music. Pall bearers were Geo. M. Allee, E. W. Wilson, Emery Wilson, Lyle Smith. O. F. Bellows and Raymond Ellrich. Interment was in the local cemetery. Obituary George Lucious Ellisonk, only son of John and Harriet Ellison, was born on January 19, 1857 at Potsdam, St. Lawrence Co., New York. His father died when he was but three months old, and as a small boy he went with his mother to the home of his uncle, Noah Perrin at Lena, Ill. Here his mother was united in marriage to Solomon V. Moore in 1860, and two years later the family took up their residence in Jones County, Iowa. In 1870 they came on to Buena Vista County and made their home on a homestead near Newell. In early manhood Mr. Ellison learned the trade of butter-maker, which he followed for a considerable portion of his life, being employed in different creameries at Newell. On April 15th, 1883, he was united in marriage to Agnes B. Lawson and they established their home in Newell, where they were continuous residents till their death. Three sons were born to them, Walter E. now of Dickens, Iowa, Homer F. deceased in 1932 and Glen L. now of Sioux City. Mr. Ellison was well known in the Newell community, having served as city weighmaster for about sixteen years. Over forty years ago the family became actively identified with the Newell Methodist Church, where Mr. and Mrs. Ellison continued as members till their death. He was a member of the official board of the church for a long period of years and served as church treasurer part of that time. He was known as an industrious, upright citizen, and as an earnest Christian. On February 2nd last, he suffered a fractured femar in a fall at his home, from which injury he did not recover sufficient strength to be about again. His wife preceeded him in death on April 20, at which time he was not able to attend her final rites. Since then he has been capably cared for at her home by Mrs. Florence Schroeder. Death came quietly to him on November 8th at 1:00 P. M. and his spirit immortal was granted welcome release from his weakened body. He is survived by the two sons, adopted daughter, Mrs. Alma Whitmore of Sioux City, and six grandchildren; Eugene, Kathryn and Phyllis Ellison of Dickens, Gordon Ellison of Sioux City, Evelyn Ellison of Lincoln Nebr. and Alfred Whitmore of Sioux City.
