Interment was made in the Edgar cemetery (sic). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Edgar Sun (Edgar, NE) Fri, Apr 17, 1942 - pg 1 George Lindgren George Ludwig Lindgren, son of John and Hilma Lindgren, was born at Page City, Kansas, February 14, 1900 and passed away at his home in Ong, April 7, 1942, at the age of 42 years, 1 month and 23 days, At the age of four years, he moved with his parents from Page City, Kansas, to the Ong community. He had spent the remainder of his life in and around its vicinity. He was confirmed in the Swedish Lutheran church (sic) at Edgar, November 29, 1914, later joining the Methodist church (sic) at Ong on Easter Sunday of the year 1930. On August 29, 1921, he was united in marriage to Ethel Karnatz. To this union one son and one daughter were born. He resided on a farm until the fall of 1924 when failing health forced him to retire. His son preceded him in death, also his mother, two brothers and two sisters. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Ethel, daughter, Eileen, his father, John Lindgren, sister, Mrs. James Cassell, brother, Melvin, and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church (sic) in Ong Thursday afternoon, April 9, 1942, with the Rev. S. W. Longacre in charge. A mixed quartette, Guy Grisell, Mrs. J. Anderson, Mrs. W. Herrick and Fred Zetterman sang "Good Night and Good Morning," "Beautiful isle" and "Beautiful City." Pallbearers were: Roy Thurin, August Lewien, Marsh Isham, Albert Carlson, Lynn Benson and Walker Hammond. Burial was made in the Edgar cemetery (sic). They know whose hands the flowers arrange, And if they don't t'would be strange If love has prompted us to give Devoted service while they live, They know that we will carry on And still be true, although they're gone. They know we'll do the last sad tasks Which love or friendship ever asks. There is so little to be said Within the presence of the dead, For always in the silent room, Made lovely by a bower of bloom, Their peaceful faces seem to say; "I knew that you'd be here today."
