Young, mention of whose death was made in last week's Leader, was held in the Methodist Church in Emerson Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 11, at 2 o'clock. Rev. A. Breeling, pastor of the Methodist Church at Grant, a former pastor and friend of the deceased conducted the services assisted by Rev. Pullman, the pastor at Strahan, and the local pastor, Rev. L. L. The following obituary was given: George Madison Young was born Jan. 24, 1870 near Plattsmouth, Nebr. At the age of three years he moved with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Young, to Mills county, Iowa. He passed away at his home near Strahan, IA Dec. 8, 1928, aged fifty-eight years, ten months, and sixteen days. He was united in marriage to Eldria Fly McMullin Dec 23, 1894 at Hastings, Iowa. Nine children were born to this union. Two children were born to this union. Two children passed away in infancy. In the Spring of 1921, they were called upon to morn the loss of a young married daughter, Mrs. Chloe Jones,. of Malvern, Iowa. Mr. Young's illness covered a period of about nine years having been confined to his bed the last nineteen weeks. He was a patient sufferer and displayed a courage and fortitude unusual for so long a period of sickness. Mr. and Mrs. Young have lived almost their entire life in Mills County. He leaves to mourn his loss his widow, six children, Mrs. Opal Irwin, Strahan, Mrs. Blanche Coontz, Emerson, Levert Young, Omaha, Wilbur Young, Strahan, Hazel and Paul who reside with their mother, five grandchildren, five brothers, and two sisters, Wesley and Will, Hastings, Charlie of Doniphan, Nebr., Tom of Glenwood, John of Carson, Anna Cross, Manhattan, Kansas, and Diantha Adkins, Cheyenne, Wyo., together with a host of relatives and friends. Matt, as he was familiarly known, was a good husband and father, a sincere friend, a good neighbor, and will be greatly missed in the community in which he lived.
