Read More	Rennick - George Marion, pg. 205: Mr. and Mrs. Rennick (Rachel Davis) were married at Doe Run, Mo., Dec. 25, 1867, and lived for a time near Decatur, Ill. Later they moved to St. Francis County, Missouri, and from there to Kansas, arriving a few days ahead of the great grasshopper invasion of 1874, and the accompanying hot winds. They lived first on what is now known as the Scroggin land, near Udall. Coming to this country in one of the hardest years, the settlers of this section experienced, like many others, discouragement and went back to "Old Missouri", but the call of the new country in Kansas was too strong to resist. They came again to Kansas in 1883, though returning meant more hardship and denial. This time they "came to stay." Mr. Rennick worked with the construction outfit on the Santa Fe Railroad, when the road was built from Wichita to Udall, and he saw the first train run on that road into Cowley County. He broke prairie, with an ox team before either Mulvane or Udall was built, and as the nearest blacksmith shop was at El Paso, now Derby, he had to take his plow shares there to have them sharpened. After a time they moved to the Maple Creek neighborhood and in 1890 bought the place where Carl Humbolt now lives. For 23 year they lived on the farm, coming to Mulvane in 1913. Mr. and Mrs. Rennick had eight children, four boys and four girls, in that order: Miles married Gertie Lambdin, they have two daughers [sic], Frances married John Peohner and Ruth married Ned Wainscott; Clinton married Lena Helbert, they had two children, Leland married Helen Fairchild and Maxine married Frank Ellis; Ferd married Estella Fellows; George married Nora McDonald, they had four daughters, Leoti, Marjorie, Opal and Velma, also two sons, Virgil and Forest; Minnie married Charlie Canaday, they had one daughter, Ruby May; Bessie married Charley Howard, they had one daughter, Ethel; Ruby Rennick married Charley Howard, after the death of her sister Bessie, they had three daughterss, Berniece, Irene and Doris, who died in infancy; Mamie married Lowen Satterthwaite, they had two children Maurice and Bessie. Some years after her husbands death Mamie married Dr.A. B. Cox. Mrs. Rennick died in 1929 and Mrs. Rennick died in 1935. Contributed by Madeline Farber.
