DICKINSON DIED VERY RECENTLY George McClellan Dickinson, the son of Woodbury and Sarah Jane Dickinson, was born at Union, Broom Co., NY, on the 14th day of August, 1866, and departed this life on September 4, 1947, at Covert, KS at the age of 81 years and 21 days. DICKINSON DIED VERY RECENTLY George McClellan Dickinson, the son of Woodbury and Sarah Jane Dickinson, was born at Union, Broom Co., NY, on the 14th day of August, 1866, and departed this life on September 4, 1947, at Covert, KS at the age of 81 years and 21 days. He with his parents and one brother and sister, came to Tonganoxie, Leavenworth Co., KS in 1871, moving on to Osborne Co. in 1885. He was united in marriage to Maude Sealey of Covert November 16, 1890. To this union were born eight children. One son, Dicky Clyde, preceded him in death at the age of two years. Those left to mourn his passing are: Cleo Dickinson, Iola, KS; George Bryon, Mabel and Bell of the home; Clarence of Covert; and Harry of Grand Island, NE, fourteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; his stepmother, Josephine Dickinson; one half sister, Florence hays of Waldo; and one half-brother, Roe of Denver; nephews and nieces and a host of friends and neighbors. He lived the greater part of his life in and around Covert and was loved by young and old alike. He helped in the station up until about four weeks before his death. Funeral services were held at the Covert Methodist church on Sunday September 7, at 10 a.m. and interment was at the Cedar Bluff cemetery. Casket bearers were: William Pierce, Harold Ewing, Bert Montgomery, Pearl VanPelt, Earl Murphy and Ora Lund. ------------------- children: 1. Cleo Dickinson 2. George W Dickinson 3.
