Description	:	G. Merl Longest Sr., 73, of St. Stephens Church died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003, at his home, Goshen Farm. Mr. Longest was a retired farmer, owner of Longest Seed Co. Inc., and a lifelong resident of King and Queen County. He was a founder of Aylett Country Day School and served many organizations in support of his community and promoting the industry of agriculture. Read More	G. Merl Longest Sr., 73, of St. Stephens Church died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003, at his home, Goshen Farm. Mr. Longest was a retired farmer, owner of Longest Seed Co. Inc., and a lifelong resident of King and Queen County. He was a founder of Aylett Country Day School and served many organizations in support of his community and promoting the industry of agriculture. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Helen Hockaday Longest; three daughters, Donna Garrison and her husband, Andy, of Stafford, Debbie Miller and her husband, Bryan, of Deltaville, and Diane Pierce and her husband, Robbie, of Richmond; one son, George M. Longest Jr. and his wife, Sandy, of St. Stephens Church; three brothers, John Longest (186693724), Robert Longest and his twin, H. Earl Longest, all of St. Stephens Church; five sisters, Elizabeth Thomas and Sadie Longest (186698517)of St. Stephens Church, Norris Hockaday of Woodford, and Emma Jean Hitchcock and Pauline Swenson of Mechanicsville; 11 grandchildren, Jenny and Andrew Garrison, Bryan Allyn, Ashley and Blake Miller, Sara, Grace and Anna Pierce, Chris and Jason Longest and Woody Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rowland and Pearl Longest; and two sisters, Jennie Longest and Lelia Seiler. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, at Marks-Bristow Funeral Home, Tappahannock. Burial will follow in the family cemetery at Green Chambers Farm, St. Stephens Church. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Andy Garrison, Woody Johnson, Chris Longest, Hank Longest, Jason Longest, Bryan Allyn Miller, Bryan Miller and Robbie Pierce. Honorary pallbearers will be Blake Miller and Andrew Garrison. Memorials may be made to Aylett County Day School, Box 70, Millers Tavern, Va. 23115.
