The county was formed in 1746 and owes its name to Bristol, England. There is no county seat, but the main towns are Barrington, Bristol, and Warren. Bristol is one of the smallest counties in the United States and has sometimes been in Massachusetts. He took the oath of fidelity 17 May 1685. Bristol records list a horse belonging to George Morye as part of the horsekind in Bristol 23 Apr 1694 and 03 May 1694 an entry records George Morey's ear mark for all his creatures markable. Later he is listed as a juror in 1703, 1707, and 1713. He is recorded as from Bristol, County of Bristol, weaver in a deed dated 15 Feb 1716.
