Mr. Murray was walking south on Chestnut street when he collapsed near the Atlantic shining parlor. The fire department resuscitator was used to revive him, but he died before reaching the hospital. Atlantic News Telegraph April 9, 1948 Page 8 MURRAY RITES HELD AT MASSENA THIS AFTERNOON Massena - George Murray, 73, whose death occurred in Atlantic Wednesday, was born in Indiana March 28, 1875, the son of George and Margaret Murray. The family came to Kansas in 1877 and in 1882 located in Iowa on a farm east of Massena. He is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Margaret Maas and Mrs Anna Brisler of Massena, Mrs. Laura Huddleson of Wiota, and Mrs. Sadie Blackwell of Larned, Kansas, and one brother, Dan, of Atlantic. He was never married. For many years he farmed in the Massena and Fontanelle vicinities and the past several years had been the herdsman for the Stakey dairy herd. He had been in poor health all winter. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Mthodist church, the Rev. W. E. Craig officiating. Burial was in Massena township cemetery.
