Description	:	LEWISTOWN - George Nicholas Morse, 92, died of natural causes Saturday, June 2, at Valle Vista Manor in Lewistown. Visitation is 1-7 p.m. Wednesday at Creel Funeral Home. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at Central Montana Memorial Gardens, with military honors presented by the Fergus County American Legion, Post #16 and the Montana Honor Guard. Creel Funeral Home handled arrangements. George was born on a farm south of Denton on March 11, 1920, to Harry and Mabel Morse. He attended grade school in a country school and graduated from Denton High School in 1937. George furthered his education for two years at Montana State College. During World War II, George volunteered to go to war in place of his younger brother. He proudly served in the Army from 1942 to 1945, being stationed in numerous locations. George received the Bronze Star Medal during his enlistment, and as a reservist, he again volunteered and served during the Korean War. On May 20, 1960, George married Dora Jansen in Helena. George was a farmer/rancher in Danvers and Denton areas from his birth until his retirement in about 1990. He saw every aspect of farming from the horse drawn threshing bee to the fully mechanized and diesel powered. As the saying goes, "old farmers never retire, they just slow down." George was a member of the R Calf USA, Eagles, Zion Lutheran Church (board member for six years), and Central Montana Memorial Gardens Board for eight years. He was the type of person who would give you the shirt off his back. George loved to attend activities his children and grandchildren were involved in. George always loved to give children a horseback ride when they came to visit. George is survived by his wife, Dora (Jansen) Morse; children Carol (Bob) Atchison, Paul N. Morse and Julie Dengel; grandchildren, Shelby and Colby Atchison, Ashley Morse and Reagann Dengel; great-grandchildren Ella, Ian, Nefi, and Mini; sister Ruth Morse Randall and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Mabel Morse; siblings Edward (Jean) Morse, Harry (Barb) Morse, Margaret (Vern) Clow and Mabel Morse and niece Karen Morse Durnford. Memorial donations are requested to the charity of the donor's choice . George's family would like to thank Dr. Bill Holmes and the staff of Valle Vista Manor for their special care.
