Description	:	George Pyrtle Weaver, son of Leonard O. and Elsie Pyrtle Weaver, was born Dec. 12, 1916, at Winona and went to be with his Lord May 1, 1984. He died in the turkey woods on old Tram. He was 67 years, 4 months, and 18 days old. His elementary education was at Big Springs School on Sycamore and his high school education was completed at Winona. He is survived by his wife, Jean; 2 sons: Glenn Derrell, Columbia; and Roger Eugene, Willard; 6 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; 4 brothers: Raymond, Salem; Bill, St. Louis; Leonard, Jr., Ottumwa, IA, and Jerry, Licking; 3 sisters: Mavis Spitzfaden, Helen Jackson, and Lydia Ross, all of St. Louis. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many well-loved friends. He was employed by Moss Tie Co. in 1952 and retired from Kerr-McGee in 1978. He was converted and baptized into the First Baptist Church of Winona in 1953. He served as song leader from that time until his death. He was a trustee and chairman of the Deacons. He loved his church and attended every service when he was able. Words are not adequate to express the meaning of his life to his family and friends. Funeral services were held Friday, May 4 at 1 pm in the Duncan Funeral Chapel at Winona with Rev. Frank Hall and Rev. Gerald Bruner officiating. Burial was in Mr. Zion Cemetery under the direction of the Duncan Funeral Home of Winona.
