Wilson, son of William L. Wilson and Elizabeth Rawson Wilson, was born Dec. 11, 1889 at Peru, Nebr. He moved to Saunders Creek community near Sterling with his parents, where he grew to manhood. On June 5, 1912 he married Vera McGrew at Tecumseh, and to this union three daughters were born. Mr. Wilson moved his family to Eckley, Colo., where he farmed, then to California, while he worked in the oil field. In 1930 the family returned to Sterling and lived on the farm until 1945, when Mr. Wilson retired and he and his wife moved to Sterling. Here he did carpenter work and meat processing. He suffered a stroke Nov. 15, 1970 and was hospitalized in the Humboldt Community Hospital at Humboldt, and later was moved to Colonial Acres Nursing Home in that town, where he passed away in his sleep at 2:30 a.m., Sept. 30, 1972. His age was 82 years, 9 months and 19 days. He was preceded in death by his wife; a daughter, Mary Elizbeth; his parents; two sisters; and three brothers. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Doris) Rathe and Mrs. Orville (Irene) Wusk, both of Sterling; two sons-in-law; a sister, Alice Janssen of Los Angeles, Calif.; a step-brother, James Brunsdon of Tecumseh; a sister-in-law Ferne McGrew of Lincoln; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Mr. Wilson had a cheerful disposition and his friendly ways made many friends. Funeral services were held at the Zink Mortuary, Monday afternoon, Oct. 2, with the Rev. E.B. Stewart of Avoca in charge. Mrs. Melvin Brinkman of Tecumseh was pianist and Walter Zink was soloist. Pallbearers were six grandsons: George Wusk, William Wusk, Gerald Koch, LeRoy Isaac, Richard Estes, and Duane Rathe. Burial was in Sterling cemetery.
