Read More	Obituary for George Richard Scheneman George "Dick" Richard Scheneman, 74, of Scanlon, Minnesota, went to be with God on September 6, 2002 after struggling with Alzheimers for a year. He was born on October 10, 1927 in Jamestown, ND to Henry B. and Kathryn Scheneman. He attended school in Jamestown. Dick served in the US Army at the end of WWII. On February 14, 1948, Dick drove to Minnesota to the home of Herman and Irene Clemens for a two week visit and ended up staying and living with the Clemens' for 54 years. He had been employed by the Northwest Paper/Potlatch Corporation for 39 years, retiring in 1987. Dick had been a former Scanlon Volunteer Firefighter for 21 years and served as Fire Chief during some of those years. He served 40 years as a Minnesota State Fire Warden and a term or two on the Scanlon City Council. Dick was a former member of Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1274 and Fraternal Order of the Eagles 1163 where he was honored as Minnesota State Eagle of the Year in 1984. Dick was a very giving person and loved to fish, make woodcrafts and play cards. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Fred, William and Bernard; seven sisters, Anne, Lucille, Theresa, Bertha, Helen, Florence and Elizabeth and his very special friend, Herman Clemens. Dick is survived by three brothers, James, Robert and Thomas; two sisters, Hattie and Dorothy, many nieces and nephews; and his "special loving family" Irene Clemens, Butch & Jackie Clemens, Betty Clemens, Dan and Nan Clemens, Buzz and Shari Acker and their families. Dick will be greatly missed by all of them. Funeral services were held on Thursday, September 12, 2002 in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet.
