Baldwin, Long an Employe (sic) At The Court House, Died Early Today George Robert Baldwin died at his home 3111 First Avenue at 5 a.m. today after a lingering illness. He was born near Toronto, Canada May 5, 1858 and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Baldwin. When he was 8 years old he came here with his parents to Anamosa where he attended the Anamosa schools and grew to manhood. For many years he was employed as an elevator manager there. He was born near Toronto, Canada May 5, 1858 and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Baldwin. When he was 8 years old he came here with his parents to Anamosa where he attended the Anamosa schools and grew to manhood. For many years he was employed as an elevator manager there. In 1870 he was married to Miss Alice Beck of Jones County. To this union were born three children: Elmer of Minneapolis; Harley who died in 1918; and Mrs. Mason Wells of Marion. He was again married in 1889 to Mrs. Elizabeth Payne of Shellburg. To them were born 3 children: Harry of Shellsburg; Mrs. Glenn Jones of Cedar Rapids; and Clifford at home. He also leaves his widow; a step-daughter, Mrs. Charles Martin of Cedar Rapids; eleven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, James Baldwin of Council Bluffs and Steve Baldwin of North Platte; and two sisters, Mrs Louise Faler of Council Bluffs and Mrs. Lizzie Gibbons of Rock Springs, Colo. Mr. Baldwin was a member of the Kenwood Park Presbyterian Church and was a trustee for several years. He had been a resident here since 1921 and formerly resided in Prairieburg, Springville, and Marion. For 19 years he had been an employe (sic) at the court house, first in Marion and later in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be held in the Yocum chapel at Marion at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
