Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. George was born November 6, 1939 in Ogilvie, Minnesota the son of Pete and Minnie (Baker) Houtsma. He was raised and educated in Worthington, Minnesota. George was born November 6, 1939 in Ogilvie, Minnesota the son of Pete and Minnie (Baker) Houtsma. He was raised and educated in Worthington, Minnesota. George married Helen VanderGrift on February 13, 1959. They made their home in Sioux Falls and George enlisted in the South Dakota Air National Guard serving from 1963-1969. In 1969, they adopted Gaylon and raised him in Sioux Falls. George was later united in marriage to Arlene (Leu) Keenan on February 2, 1980 and gained two sons, Dale and Wayne Keenan. George worked for Foremost Dairy, delivering milk for 15 years and later drove truck for American Freight for 10 years. George finished his working career after working at Metz Bakery for 19 years. After his retirement, he was a bus driver for the Brandon School District for 9 years. George enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings and NASCAR. He especially enjoyed time visiting with family and friends. George is survived by two sons, Gaylon (Lisa) Houtsma of Brandon, SD; Dale (Terese) Keenan of Sioux Falls, SD; seven grandchildren, Jada (Kyle Lunde) Keenan, Kayla (Christian Krejci) Houtsma, Gavin Houtsma, Nevaeh Keenan, Faith Keenan, Scott Burtis, Logan Burtis; brother, Tony (Gloria) Houtsma of Grand Rapids, MI; sisters-in-law, Bernice Houtsma of Worthington, MN; Phyllis Houtsma of Mora, MN; Pearl Tull, Sioux Falls, SD, Allie ( Chuck) Fodness of Surprise, AZ; numerous nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by parents, wife, Arlene (2020) son, Wayne Keenan, infant brother, Gerauld, brothers, Alvin, Darwin and Leroy and sister, Matilda Dykema. - George Boom Funeral Home
