He has been gardener at the Normal School for 14 years where he was affectionately known as "dad." He leaves a widow and two sons, Carl of Seattle and Frank of Ellensburg. Two brothers, James of Ellensburg and Ralph of McDermott, Nev., and one sister, Mrs. Geo. Wheeler of Ellensburg, survive. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, at the Honeycutt Chapel. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery. -------------------- OBIT: George Montgomery, a pioneer of the Kittitas Valley, died at his home on East Eighth Street Sunday after a short illness. He was a native of Oregon, being born in that state in September, 1860, of a pioneer family. He came to this valley at the age of 21 from Salina, California. Mr. Montgomery came to this valley and worked as did many of the early pioneers freighting from The Dalles. Nearly 20 years ago he became the gardner at the Washington State Normal here and the beautiful landscaped grounds are the result of his untiring efforts during this period. The seeds and plants for many of the beautiful flower beds on the Normal campus were the gifts of friends, of which he had legion among the townspeople as well as the students in the Normal and the little children of the Training School who adored him. They each brought a flower to school on Wednesday which was made into a spray that was placed on his grave following his burial. Besides his devoted wife, he is survived by two sons, Carl of Seattle and Frank of Ellensburg. Two brothers, James of Ellensburg, and Ralph of McDermott, Nevada, and one sister, Mrs. George Wheeler of this city. Funeral services were held Wednesday from the Honeycutt Parlor.
