George Taylor Davis was born September 11, 1901, at Ottumwa, and died at Ottumwa hospital January 5, 1923, aged 21 years, 3 months and 24 days. His illness was brief, having been stricken December 26, and during the days intervening until his death suffered terrible pain. Mr. Davis entered the service of his country as a sailor December 11, 1918, and was honorably discharged October 1, 1920. He was with the naval forces on the Pacific coast. He leaves to mourn his loss his mother, Mrs. I.M. Davis, of Ottumwa; two brothers, I.B. Davis of Chicago and C.O. Davis of Ottumwa, and two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Simmons and Mrs. Era Lynch, both of Ottumwa. He also leaves many friends who will mourn his departure. His funeral services were held from the Main Street church on Sunday afternoon, January 7 at 2 o’clock. Rev. A.A. Heath, the pastor, was in charge. Many beautiful floral tributes were given by friends as tokens of their sympathy. The choir of the Main Street church furnished the music. Interment was made in Shaul cemetery.–Contributed.
