Gowans George T. Gowans, 77, of Weir, died at 6:30 a.m. Monday at the Mills Rest Home. He had been a resident of the Rest Home since Jan. 4. Mr. Gowans retired from the Frisco Railroad in 1946, and had resided in the Pittsburg area all his life. Born Aug. 25, 1890 at Weir, he married Miss Edith Lea Kauble in 1914 at Weir. She died in 1918. Mr. Gowans was a soldier in the Salvation Army. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Clara L. Chesser, 312 E. 8th; one brother, Andrew (Billy) Gowans, Weir; one grandson, George A. Pryor, U.S. Armed Forces, Kentucky. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Major Claude Reeder will officiate. Burial will be in Cherokee Cemetery.
