George Threlkeld died at his home in Jefferson township, this county, Thursday, March 28, 1889, aged 83 years, two months and ten days. Mr. Threldkeld(sic) was born in Henry county, Ky., and came to Indiana fifty-six years ago and settled on the farm where he spent the remainder of his life, holding the old "patent" to the land, signed by Andrew Jackson. He raised a family of ten children, all of whom are now heads of families, and all except one daughter, who is in the west, were present at the death of the father. His companion passed on before him eight years ago, after a journey of fifty-two years with her husband. Mr. Threldkeld was honored and respected by his neighbors and acquaintances, and they turned out in large numbers on Friday, 29th, and followed his remains to their last resting place in Pisgah church cemetery, Montgomery county. Mr. Threlkeld was sixty years a voter, and a strong advocate of the principles of Democracy, never voting for a man not on that ticket. {Note: Two obituaries state that he died March 28, while the marker date is March 27.
