Description	:	St Paris News Dispatch-- May 28, 1914 George W Bollinger died at his home in St Paris on Tuesday. The fuenral services were held today, Rev CL Myers officiating. Interment was made in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr Bollinger was the son of Samuel and Mary Bollinger, and was born in Clark County, near Springfield, on September 28, 1838, having passed his 75th birthday. Read More	St Paris News Dispatch-- May 28, 1914 George W Bollinger died at his home in St Paris on Tuesday. The fuenral services were held today, Rev CL Myers officiating. Interment was made in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr Bollinger was the son of Samuel and Mary Bollinger, and was born in Clark County, near Springfield, on September 28, 1838, having passed his 75th birthday. When a small boy, he came to Champaign County with his parents and has spent most of his life in Jackson Twp. He moved to St Paris about two years ago. Mr Bollinger was amoung the first to answer the call to the nation's service in the Civil War. He enlisted in the 2nd OVI, Co A, on September 1, 1861. At the battle of Chickamauga on September 19, 1863, he was taken prisoner by the rebel army in whose hands he remained for eighteen months, six months of which time was spent in the famous Libby Prison at Andersonville. On March 20, 1865, he was mustered out of the service. His marriage to Miss Margarete Lewis took place June 1, 1865 and this union was blessed with seven children, all of who survive with the mother. They are: Benjamin Bollinger, AC Bollinger, James Bollinger, and Freeman Bollinger, the daughters are Mrs IJ Merritt and Mrs WA Wolcott of Lena, and Mrs CE Hair of Detroit. Four brothers and a sister also remain, they are Samuel, Joseph, Isaac of Miami County, Emanuel and Mrs Anna Slack, twelve great grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive.
