Crosby, 85, died at 3:01 a.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at Indiana University Health, White Memorial Hospital in Monticello. He was born Sunday, January 30, 1927, in Wolcott, to Henry and Etta Dawson Crosby. Lived in White County, Indiana all of his life and was a 1945 graduate of the Chalmers High School in Chalmers, Indiana. He served in the Indiana National Guard. George farmed in the Wolcott, Indiana area until 1972 when he moved to the farm in rural Monticello, Indiana. He retired from farming in 1999. George was known for growing the best Pumpkins around for over 25 years and was known by many as "Mr. Pumpkin". He also insulated many homes in the surrounding area to fill his time. George was a member of the Wolcott Christian Church and then the Monticello Christian Church. He was very active in the External Property Committee of the Monticello Christian Church for several years. George was a former 4-H Leader of the Liberty Township 4-H club for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping. George loved doing anything that involved working in the great outdoors. On April 3, 1949 in the Old Christian Church on Bluff Street in Monticello, Indiana he married Phyllis Dunlap. She died May 9, 1994. Then on December 12, 1999 in the little chapel of the Monticello Christian Church he married Mary A. Schell. She survives. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 31, 2012, at the Miller-Roscka Funeral Home of Monticello and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 1, 2012, at the Monticello Christian Church of Monticello. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 1, 2012, at the Monticello Christian Church, 105 Gordon Road, Monticello, IN 47960. Burial will take place: in the Hughes Cemetery of rural Monticello. Memorials may be given to the External Property Committee of the Monticello Christian Church.
