Description	:	George W. Hartung passed from this life Oct. 27th, 1914 at 5:40 o'clock in the afternoon at the home of his daughter Mrs. W.S. Bolling who resides northeast of Beemer. The immediate cause of his death being a complication of deceases, from which he had been ailing for four months or more. Mr. Hartung was born June 15th, 1850 in Beaver County, Pa. The immediate cause of his death being a complication of deceases, from which he had been ailing for four months or more. Mr. Hartung was born June 15th, 1850 in Beaver County, Pa. On April 8th, 1869 he was joined in marriage to Laura Applegate at Blairstone, Ia. There were eight children born to them, six of whom survive him, three sons and three daughters namely: J.K. Hartung, Pipestone, Minn.; Mrs. Chas. Norman, West Point, Neb.; Mrs W.S. Bolling, Beemer, Neb.; Mrs C.M. Grebe, Bassett, Neb.; B.L. Hartung, Wheatland, Wyo.; Harley D Hartung, Basset, Neb. Five brothers and one sister also survive him. Mr Hartung formerly resided at Blairstone, Ia. and then came to West Point, thence to Bassett. During his lifetime he was a mechanic and farmer, and was a member of the Evangelical Association church which he joined in 1872 and was also a member of the A.O.U.W. lodge. The funeral services took place from the home of his daughter, Mrs W.S. Bolling, Thursday, Oct. 29th at 2 o'clock, Rev. Capsey pastor of the local M.E. Church, officiating. The pall bearers were: Geo. Long, Wm. Galbraith, John Bass, M. Gallagher, John Frahm and Clarence Fessler. Miss Lulu Bowyer and Mrs. Clarence Galbraith sang and Miss Alta Spencer was organist. Interment was made in the Dewitt cemetery, east of Beemer. Those in attendance at the obsequies were as follows: Jacob Hartung, a brother, from Des Moines, Iowa; M.M. Applegate and wife from Maxwell, Ia; D.J. Drebert, H.A. Drebert, G.W. Bell, Geo. Drebert and John Drebert, all nephews, from Norfolk. John Bolling and wife, the latter a sister, from West Point, Neb. and a niece, Mrs. H. Heitzman of West Point. About a month ago Mr. Hartung went to the Presbyterian hospital in Omaha but little could be done other than temporarily relieve his condition, and about a week before he died he was en route home to Basset, when it was thought best to stop off here and he gradually failed until the end.
