He passed away at Bryan Memorial Hospital, Lincoln, on October 25, 1988. George attended Pawnee City Schools and graduated in 1930. He worked on a farm at Scottsbluff, Nebr. for several years, entered the military service on March 12, 1942 and served until discharged on Nov. 17, 1945. Johnson was born November 28, 1912 at Steinauer, Nebr., the son of Edward Johnson and Katherina Smith Johnson. He passed away at Bryan Memorial Hospital, Lincoln, on October 25, 1988. George attended Pawnee City Schools and graduated in 1930. He worked on a farm at Scottsbluff, Nebr. for several years, entered the military service on March 12, 1942 and served until discharged on Nov. 17, 1945. After military service, he was a manager for People's Natural Gas Co. for 27 years. George was married to Lucile Peacock on Dec. 19, 1942 and to this union was born one daughter, Rueah Lee. He served on the Pawnee Public School Board for 4 years. He was a charter member of the Pawnee Rotary Club. and served as secretary for 20 some years. He was inducted as a Paul Harris Fellow in 1983. George was a member of the Pawnee City Christian Church; Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge #9; VFW Post 5289; American Legion Post #168 of Pawnee City. Survivors include wife, Lucile, daughter, Reuah Wilson and husband, Richard of Gretna, Nebraska; granddaughter Renee Knoles and husband Greg of Olathe, KS, grandson, Trent Redwine and wife, Stacy of Copperas Cove, TX. Grandson Patrick and granddaughter Amanda Wilson, of Gretna, NE., one great grandson, Steven Redwine. Two sisters, Dollie and Katherine, and a number of nieces and nephews. George was a loving husband and father.. He was preceded in death by his parents and a number of brothers and sisters. Funeral services for Mr. Johnson were held Friday, October 28, 1988 at the First Christian Church in Pawnee City, NE, with Rev. Arlan Rolfsen officiating. Music was furnished by the Church Choir who sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Precious Lord Take MY Hand" accompanied by Mrs. Ellis Dovel at the organ. Pallbearers were Ellis Dovel, Robert Collar, Harold Schlender, Roald Ganzel, Dale Buman, and Charles Usher. Interment was in the Pawnee City Cemetery in Pawnee City, Nebr.
