Born on March 7, 1818 in Corinth, Vt., the son of Nathaniel Kenison and his wife, Acointhe A. George Kenison. The family moved to Methuen, MA sometime before 1850.
George married Abigail Sawyer Clark, daughter of Ezekiel Clark and his wife, Abigail Sawyer Clark, on October 12, 1848 in Methuen, MA. He was a widower, 30 years old, Abby was 29 years old.

George was a member of the Spiggott Engine Company in 1850, 1857, 1859-1861 and 1867 At the time of his enlisted in Company B, 1st Massachusetts Heavy Artillery on 2/24/1862 he was a 35 year old mill operator living in Methuen. Discharged at the end of the war, Ruptured on May 17, 1864, "Confined at Fort Albany, VA 1863 for 15 days and also at the Emery hospital Washington, DC for about 2 weeks for the first of July 1864. I went out to Fort Slocome at the time of the raid through Maryland and joined the provisional battallion for 60 days and then returned to my regiment and staid until my time was out. Within 3 weeks and that I spent at the 3 division hospital."
After the war he returned to Methuen, MA and became a member of Post 100 GAR. George died May 17, 1890 of Apoplexy at the age of 72 years, 2 months, 12 days.
