Description	:	George W. Sanders, 87, died Saturday April 12, 2014 with his family at his side. George was born on December 12, 1926, in Newry, SC. He moved from S.C. to Scottsmoor, FL in 1957 to work at the Space Center for Pan Am. He volunteered for the U.S. Army in 1945, in an effort to serve his country. He was one of the founding fathers of the Scottsmoor Volunteer Fire Department. He helped to raise money to start the First Baptist Church of Scottsmoor, building as it sets today. George was born on December 12, 1926, in Newry, SC. He moved from S.C. to Scottsmoor, FL in 1957 to work at the Space Center for Pan Am. He volunteered for the U.S. Army in 1945, in an effort to serve his country. He was one of the founding fathers of the Scottsmoor Volunteer Fire Department. He helped to raise money to start the First Baptist Church of Scottsmoor, building as it sets today. He also helped start the Spring Street Baptist Church in Scottsmoor and later pastored the church for 3 years. He also supported the late Pastor Wilber Griffin and his wife Mae, in their efforts to build the House of Prayer of Mims. He has been the assistant pastor there for many, many years. He loved people, he loved to laugh and was known for being quite the jokester. He also loved reading the word of God and he loved praying for people, but most of all, he loved his wife Hazel of nearly 68 years. He is survived by her, as well as his 3 sons, Tommy Sanders (Westminster, SC) Bobby Sanders (Long Creek, SC) and Jerry Sanders (Mims, FL) and 1 daughter Karen Hobbs-Dunn (Mims, FL). He had 7 grandchildren, Teddy, Michael, Phillip and Wayne Sanders, Casey and Brad Hobbs and Shelly Sanders Celli. He also had 21 great grandchildren. He is also survived by 1 brother Charles Sanders, of Elgin, SC and 1 sister Hettie Brewer of Courtney, SC as well as many nieces and nephews. George is also survived by many friends and family members, that through his prayers and faith in God has been healed, and also by the many, many he has led to the Lord, to be saved.
