Mr. Barry suffered a heart attack Saturday evening and steadily became worse. Sunday morning it became necessary to to removed him to a hospital and he was taken by ambulance. All that could be done for him failed and Mr. Barry passed away that evening. He had not been in the best of health for some time, but was able to be up and about, and his sudden death came as a shock to the entire community. George Wanford Barry was born Nov. 22, 1893, at Fargo, North Dakota. He came to Big Sandy from Jamestown in 1912, and has been operating a combination farm and cattle ranch about 30 miles southeast of Big Sandy. He is survived by his mother, who lived with him on the ranch. Mr. Barry was a veteran of World War I. He enlisted at Fort Benton on May 29, 1918 and was discharged July 10, 1919 at Fort D. A. Russell, Wyo., as a PFC, Casualty Co. 34 Engineers. He was very interested in all local community affairs, and was an active member of the Farmers Union. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion. Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday afternoon. He was buried with military honors at the Big Sandy Cemetery.
