Description	:	George Warner Young, the son of Hugh Frank and Mabel Lillian (Warner) Young, was born June 22, 1920 on the family farm in rural Kellogg, Iowa. He graduated from the Newton Senior High School with the class of 1940. George farmed following high school, a profession he would continue his entire life. During World War II, George was active in keeping neighbors farm machinery operating when repairs and supplies were hard to get. He graduated from the Newton Senior High School with the class of 1940. George farmed following high school, a profession he would continue his entire life. George was active in the Pleasant View United Methodist Church, the Kellogg Lions Club, the Kellogg Historical Society, the Jasper County Farm Bureau and the Midwest Drivers Association. George died on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Park Centre in Newton. He was 96 years old. George was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Alice Brodersen; and a brother in infancy. Those left to honor George’s memory include his nephew, Regan (Betty) Brodersen; his niece, Phyllis Parsons; his great nieces and nephew, Dana (Mindy) Brodersen, Angie (Craig) Keith, Tara (Curt) Heck and Carol (Roy) Hansen.
