Description	:	Husband of Abigail Morrison Cheney, daughter of Moses and Abigial Cheney. George Washburne, a former and well known citizen of this place died the 6th inst. in Goffstown of this state, of consumption. He was son-in-law of Deacon Moses Cheney who died several years since. He leaves a wife and one son, a lawyer in Boston, Massachusetts. His age was 57 years and 11 months. The remains of George Washburne were brought to this place Monday, the 9th inst. and taken to the house of Mrs Moses Cheney where the funeral services were held, conducted... George Washburne, a former and well known citizen of this place died the 6th inst. in Goffstown of this state, of consumption. He was son-in-law of Deacon Moses Cheney who died several years since. He leaves a wife and one son, a lawyer in Boston, Massachusetts. His age was 57 years and 11 months. The remains of George Washburne were brought to this place Monday, the 9th inst. and taken to the house of Mrs Moses Cheney where the funeral services were held, conducted by Reverend W L Noyes. The services consisted of singing scripture reading and prayer. The widow, son and wife, Mrs Abbott and Mrs J H Lord, sister of the widow; J P F Smith and wife also sister of the widow, ex-Governor Cheney and others were present. The remains were interred in Green Grove Cemetery. The Ashland Item, May 14, 1881.∼I took over management of this memorial in the name of George Washburn Cheney but I don't believe his name was Cheney. I believe this is George Washburn, husband of Abigail Morrison Cheney who was the daughter of Moses and Abigail Cheney. Abigail Morrison Cheney married George Washburn son of Rufus and Sarah (Tuttle) Washburn in 1847 in Hillsborough County, NH and had at least one son Frank L. Washburn born in 1849. In 1870 George and Abbie M. Washburn were in Ashland; George was 47 and Abbie 46 and son Frank L. was 21, all born New Hampshire. George was working in he paper mill at that time and the family resided next door to Moses Cheney and family. In the last census prior to his death he resided in Goffstown, Hillsborough County, NH, age 57. Wife Abbie was 56 and George was farming. Death record George Washburn died Goffstown May 6, 1881 age 57, a farmer, married. Cause of death was phithisis.
